Timothy Less is Head of Geopolitical Risk at the Cambridge Centre for Risk Studies, where he is developing a programme of work in geopolitics focused on the use of AI to assess and forecast geopolitical risk. He also leads the Cambridge Applied Geopolitical Risk Analysis teaching and research programme for final-year undergraduates and postgraduate students. Outside the University, Tim provides analytical and consultancy services to private-sector clients, specialising in the politics of Russia and Eastern Europe. He also speaks and writes on international politics affairs for the British and international media.
 
Previously, Tim was a member of the British Diplomatic Service, where he served as Head of the Embassy Office in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and as Head of the EU Institutions department. He holds an MA in Eastern European Studies from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, London, and an MSt in International Relations and a PhD in contemporary history from the University of Cambridge.
